Fine. - Original edition of Hannover's important work in which he described his discovery of the pigment lipofuscin, a brown-yellow pigment in neurons. The deposition of this pigment in the cytoplasm of the neurons is one of the consistent age-related cytological changes (it is found in myocardium and skeletal muscle as well). In order to isolate it Hannover applied the method of using chromatic acid for fixation of tissues, invented by himself.
